TWENTY YEARS OF AGE JUNIOR AT UH MANOA ON EXCHANGE PROGRAM LIVING IT UP IN HAWAII |
These past few months have been rough but thanks to my new family here on the rock I feel as if I have changed for the better… I hope that in the new year things will keep changing for the better!!
Haven’t been on this site for a long time… But I thought since mid terms are over I’m going to bet back to writing about my life in paradise… Spring semester thus far has been INCREDIBLE honestly I’m so happy with my decision to transfer to UHM! I am currently in a relationship with the most wonderful guy, his name is Austen been together for 2 months officially but I have this feeling that it may last FOREVER!
Its 11:53 here so I’m sad to say that I need to stop here and continue tomorrow!
Since school started I’ve been busy making friends, finishing up homework, studying for map quizzes and dancing my little heart out. I could never find the time to sit at the computer and do nothing but write. But here it is I’m sitting on the bus after a long day on campus, I can’t look at one more dance history books or study one more Hawaiian map. I don’t have enough time to fill you in with all the gossip but I promise I will. I guess all I wanted to say was that I’m in LOVE with Hawaii and I am having the time of my life!
I promise I’ll update you on my first week of American university this weekend… I’ve been trying like I said ” trying” haven’t really made a dent in it but trying to make friends… I guess people in my building don’t want to be friends with a dancer and there are too many people on campus to know but as of now I have made about 10 friends well maybe not friends but I know about 10 different names… It’s only the first week so I’m not worried :)
This is what I walked past whilst enjoying my Dole Whip, some type of festival! “No mom it wasn’t a jewish festival this time!” As I was watching the Old Ladies “DANCE” in a circle a PLATINUM Trophy popped in my head! That’s right I’m learning this dance and then creating a production number for competition. But wait there’s more, I know its not Zumba but it looks kinda difficult so I’m thinking every Harand Production will have some moves from these lovely ladies, we can have Jojo and Errol banging on the drums!
This adventure that I am on is getting better and better each and every day of exploring!
Carrie Joy will be proud… my first and DEFINITELY not last cup of DOLE WHIP*, I was in HEAVEN after the first bite, I was even considering going back for another but instead I found myself wondering around the streets of Waikiki feeling as if I was floating on air since I was eating such an incredible cup of soft serve.
*What is Dole Whip you ask well… Dole Whip: “Dole Soft Serve Mix is a lactose free dry mix that is reconstituted with tap water and frozen down in a soft serve machine. Marketed under the popular Dole brand name, this unique product delivers an intense, natural pineapple fruit flavor, yet is fat free and cholesterol free.
The view from my lanai… I’m on the 16th floor of the Ohia.. This is going to be a great semester!
My very colourful bed!

| Taxi Man: | Oh yes you be student here then, You go to UH? (NO PAUSE FOR ME TO ANSWER) You look like girl who go to UH, UH very good school |

| Taxi Man: | That used to be very good hotel, now people like you take over and live |
| Me: | Thats where I am moving TOMORROW |
| Taxi Man: | Oh really your taxi ride NO COST! |
Your probably thinking RED but NO its tan but tan! I have been wearing SPF 30 and I have been reapplying *I may be putting Maui Babe Browning Lotion over but it’s not cheating*
Today was an another eventful day, it started with going to the beach with some new friends (Laura, Anna, Alex, and Julie) then when it was time for them to go to a meeting that I didn’t sign up for I hit Wal-Mart. It’s not like the Wal-Marts I’m used to I.E. Kenosha or LaGrange, its smaller and a bit dodgey… The lay out, the people, hell even the items sold were different. They had a whole section of just asian cookware, not that I’m complaining I LOVE THE FOOD but I’ve never seen so many rice cookers in an aisle before!
I had no idea what I was looking for, I’ve never been a student at ‘real’ university (I.E., HUGE CAMPUS). I mean I have lived in a dorm once or twice :) but this time I think it going to be a bit different. Living in a dorm room for 6 weeks in the past 12 years in the summer is a good preparation but those dorms don’t have a small kitchen in the corridor or there very own private toilet!
But anyway whilst I was walking around the store I basically just followed other potential UH students and threw in what they were grabbing, so I couldn’t really tell you what I bought, but I bet it will be useful! Especially that UH Warriors shirt that was $5.00… BARGIN at the bookstore they were at least $20.00
